Cardiff Canoe Club – River Clean Up

Stu3 sponsored the Cardiff Canoe Club for a river clean up. This is particularly special for Pete Attfield, Lead Consultant, as he is a member of the club.

The river was in dire need of a clean so 14 members of the club met up on the Taff in Pontypridd and they got more rubbish than they bargained for. Here’s an update from club members about how the cleanup went:

“We accessed the river just below the bridge connecting Llys Cadwyn and Ynysangharad War Memorial Park.

Starting out by collecting litter along the bank and wading in shallow water to remove larger obstacles like scaffolding poles and shopping trolleys, we then split into several groups collecting more litter on both sides of the riverbank, clearing a long standing obstacle in the centre of the flow that kept accumulating new flotsam and jetsam with every flood and finally moving all our bounty to higher ground so the council would be able to collect it.

Well done to all those involved – A fantastic result and a great start to the 2022 Big Paddle Cleanup!
